Autocar ACX - Heil DuraPack 7000

It's been a long time coming, but finally this summer I was able to make it out to the state of Utah along with fellow YouTuber, West Coast Refuse Trucks! Much of the state is dominated by Heil Formula 7000's of various build generations for residential, and sometimes even commercial collection, with many haulers and municipalities having stuck with the Formula 7000 since day one of automated collection. One of the biggest ups to filming in Utah is the container variety, with most cities still using their original carts from their initial automated collection program, many of which are all but extinct outside of Utah.

That brings us now to the specifics of this particular video. I'm sure by now most, if not all of us have seen the 1992 Heil Automation Demo Video. One of the municipalities featured was the City of Provo, UT with their Heil Formula 7000's on WhiteGMC Xpeditors collection classic 80-gallon Heil Rotomold carts. Fast forward to modern day, and you can still find the city running today's equivalent of the same setup: Autocar ACX chassis with Heil DuraPack 7000 bodies, still collecting many of those original Heil carts. This video showcases two such trucks, both collecting residential garbage routes. Aside from the awesome trucks and carts, the gorgeous mountain scenery and overall friendly and welcoming people of Provo made my visit and absolutely stellar experience, and I absolutely hope to make it back out that way again someday! In the meantime, enjoy watching two of Provo's newer garbage trucks doing what they do best!

Big thanks to both of these drivers for being kind enough to let us grab some video of these awesome trucks!

Autocar ACX - McNeilus AutoReach

As many of you already know, we've been battling numerous intense wildfires all summer long out here in the western US and Canada, and us here in the Pacific Northwest have been getting choked out with heavy smoke and ash for the better part of the past three months. Last week, the smoke was particularly thick, which created some really interesting lighting effects. So, despite the poor air quality, I set out to take advantage of the unique lighting and capture some video of a few of the garbage trucks out around town. The first truck I found was this Autocar ACX with a McNeilus AutoReach body picking up garbage in the scenic Park Hills neighborhood. You wouldn't know it from this video, but when the thick haze clears, you can see most of the city from the top of this neighborhood. Overall, the dense smoke made for a really unique video, so I hope you all enjoy. As a side note, around the 1:45 mark you can hear the recycling truck driving up in the background, so stay tuned and you may just see that truck on film in the near future!

Big thanks goes out to the driver, not only for letting me film some video of his truck, but for also getting out there and providing dedicated service to our community throughout this summer's unusually harsh conditions!

Mack LR - Heil DuraPack Rapid Rail

Here we have both the only Mack LR I've ever seen in person paired up with the only new Heil DuraPack Rapid Rail I've filmed to-date! This was filmed over two separate trips; first collecting garbage in September of last year when the truck was only a couple weeks old, and on the second trip collecting yard waste in May of this year. Over all, this is one slick looking truck, and seems to run pretty well! Check it out!

Big thanks goes out to both of these drivers for allowing myself and West Coast Refuse Trucks to shoot some video of this good looking truck!

Autocar WX64 - F. F. Gomez Front Loader w/ The Curotto-Can II

Here is the first truck I filmed during my trip to California back in January which is also one of my favorites from the whole trip: an Autocar Xpeditor WX64 with an F. F. Gomez Front Load body and a Curotto-Can II collecting green waste in Rancho Cucamonga. A number of factors made me instantly drool over this truck: the foot-to-floor revving, the flying speed of the Curotto arm, and most of all that every aspect of this truck is modern throwback to the classic SoCal trucks of yesteryear - the Maxon Legal One body, now built by F. F. Gomez; the WhiteGMC Xpeditor chassis, now built by Autocar; the carry can now replaced by the automated Curotto-Can; at a quick glance you'd almost swear this was 1990. This truck was an absolute joy to watch and I only wish that I could have seen more before it cruised off to go dump. I hope you all enjoy this gorgeous SoCal exclusive doing what it does best!
