As many of you already know, we've been battling numerous intense wildfires all summer long out here in the western US and Canada, and us here in the Pacific Northwest have been getting choked out with heavy smoke and ash for the better part of the past three months. Last week, the smoke was particularly thick, which created some really interesting lighting effects. So, despite the poor air quality, I set out to take advantage of the unique lighting and capture some video of a few of the garbage trucks out around town. The first truck I found was this Autocar ACX with a McNeilus AutoReach body picking up garbage in the scenic Park Hills neighborhood. You wouldn't know it from this video, but when the thick haze clears, you can see most of the city from the top of this neighborhood. Overall, the dense smoke made for a really unique video, so I hope you all enjoy. As a side note, around the 1:45 mark you can hear the recycling truck driving up in the background, so stay tuned and you may just see that truck on film in the near future!
Big thanks goes out to the driver, not only for letting me film some video of his truck, but for also getting out there and providing dedicated service to our community throughout this summer's unusually harsh conditions!
