Since the Pacific Northwest has been trapped in one of the longest, coldest, harshest winters on record, I decided to flee the snow and ice for a couple of weeks and head on down to sunny Southern California! While down there, I was able to film dozens of cool garbage trucks in action! Here's the first video I'm uploading from that adventure, featuring an Amrep HX-450-FL front loader on an Autocar ACX cab and chassis! This truck is setup for residential collection, outfitted with a Curotto-Can - a very rare treat to see paired up with an Amrep front loader! This truck is seen here slamming its way through a residential recycling route!
Here's a big thank you to this excellent driver for allowing me to get some video of his truck in action!
Peterbilt 310 - Heil Formula 7000 Curve Shell
The Formula 7000 Curve Shell, also marketed as the Formula 7000 High Compaction, was the load packing king at the forefront of Heil's automated body line-up through the '90s. Built around the time-proven Formula 7000 automated arm, it's twin packing rams and smooth, curved walls made it the lightweight, high-strength, high-compaction counterpart to the standard square body Formula 7000. It also boasted full-ejection as an added option, allowing for safer discharge at landfill sites. The Formula 7000 Curve Shell eventually morphed into what became the DuraPack 7000 in the 2000's.
This beautifully preserved Formula 7000 Curve Shells meshes well with the Peterbilt 310 cab and chassis it was paired with. This classic truck is seen here collecting a residential garbage route in Salem, OR last January. This truck only runs as a spare these days, so it's not the fastest truck any more by any means, however its fresh paint and nearly immaculate condition made it a true treat to see! And despite some less-than-desirable weather while filming, I'm still extremely pleases with how this video came out, and I hope all of you enjoy it too!
I'd like to extend my thanks to this very friendly and professional driver for allowing me to get some video of this truck!
White Xpeditor Roll-Off Truck
Very rarely do I have the opportunity to film any roll-off trucks in action, in fact I believe this is only my second feature video of a roll-off truck! Here is a classic late '80s/early '90s White Xpeditor cab and chassis, paired up with a chain-driven roll-off hoist! While most places around the U.S. utilize cable hoists, these chain-driven hoists are the roll-off hoist of choice here in the Pacific Northwest.
To make this video even more special, I was lucky enough to be able to film this truck emptying out a self-container compactor at the transfer station! This was a lot of fun to watch and film and I hope you all enjoy it!
I would also like to extend the biggest thank you to the awesome driver of this truck as well as all of the other extremely friendly and welcoming people at Sanitary Disposal for making this video possible! Thanks everyone!
Peterbilt 320 - Bridgeport Ranger
Happy New Year's Eve! To end off 2016, here is one of the fastest, most smoothly operated Bridgeport Ranger's that I've had the pleasure of filming! As you can see, this one is fairly new, and is mounted to a Peterbilt 320 cab and chassis, very likely one of the last 320 cabs built without the rear corner windows. This truck seems to be very well cared for and still runs very swift and smoothly, almost like brand new still! Combined with this very skilled driver's precise yet fluid operating style, this is perhaps the most fun to watch modern automated side loader I've seen in quite some time! This sharp unit is seen here collecting a mix of 48- and 96-gallon carts on a residential garbage route! I hope you all enjoy the footage and have a wonderful New Year! Stay tuned, I've got lot's more to come in 2017!
I would like to also take a second to extend a huge thank you to the driver of this truck for allowing me to shoot some video!
Crane Carrier Co. LET - Dempster Recycle One
With the rapidly spreading popularity of single-stream recycling programs, in which users co-mingle all recyclables into one large container, curb-sort recycling trucks have become all but extinct. However, some communities still utilize curb-sort recycling trucks in order to reduce contamination and increase the value of the recovered commodities. Without further ado, I present you with a very fine example of one of these remaining recylers - the Dempster Recycle One trough-loaded recycler body, seen here mounted to a Crane Carrier Co. Low-Entry Tilt (LET) cab and chassis! This truck is seen here collecting residential recyclables separated into three different bins - one for bottles and cans, one for newspaper, and the other for mixed paper and cardboard. The pre-sorted recyclables are placed into the proper corresponding compartments in the truck's trough. Once the trough is full, a linkage system raises the trough to the top of the body, and turns over to deposit the recyclables into the truck. The recyclables are kept separate by a set of partitions within the body. When the truck is dumping out at the recycling facility, the partitions are able to be opened one at a time, allowing the recyclables to stay separated throughout the entire process!
I hope you all enjoy the video! I'd like to extend a huge thank you out to this very friendly and professional driver for allowing me to shoot some video of this truck!
