Here's a truck that I've been really excited about and finally had the chance to see with my own eyes: the New Way RotoPac! The RotoPac body has one major feature that sets it apart from all other North American refuse trucks - a powerful auger packer! Rather than the traditional reciprocating ram packer that most automated side loaders feature, the RotoPac uses a single large corkscrew auger to break down refuse in the hopper and force it into the body, creating very densely packed loads. While auger-type compaction systems are fairly common in a lot of European countries, the technology is virtually brand new here in the States. After finally having had a chance to see this one in person, I can safely say that I am thoroughly impressed! This truck seems to be able to handle just about anything you can throw at it!
Seen here is a small-sized New Way RotoPac body mounted to a single-axle medium-duty Freightliner M2 cab and chassis. It's small size allows to maneuver tight cul-de-sacs as well as narrow country lanes with ease, both of which are demonstrated in this video. The automated arms flexible grippers allow for the easy handling of a variety of carts of all shapes and sizes, from 32 to 96 gallons. Anyways, I could go on about all of this truck's features and how much I love it all day, but without further ado, watch now as this little beast chugs and grinds it's way through a typical residential garbage route! Enjoy!
I would also like to extend a huge thank you to the driver of this truck for letting me shoot this video of his awesome new truck!
Volvo WX42 - Wittke Starlight
Due to the often scattered and sporadic nature of commercial garbage routes, it's not very often that I'm able to catch commercial front loaders on film. However, I was recently lucky enough to spot this awesome one in action! Here we have a Wittke Starlight front load body on a Volvo Xpeditor WX42 cab and chassis slamming back some dumpsters! As you might notice, this truck has also been equipped with the Curotto-Can Commercial Gripper, which you can see this driver using to help push wheeled containers off of the forks, which definitely adds a unique element to this video! I had a lot of fun watching this truck in action, and I hope you do too!
I would like to extend a big thank you to the driver of this truck for letting me grab some video of his truck!
Autocar ACX - McNeilus AutoReach
It's been a good while since I've posted a video of one of my hometown trucks, so here we go! Here we have a McNeilus AutoReach automated side load body on an Autocar Xpeditor ACX cab and chassis, seen here chugging it's way through a typical residential garbage route. Though the McNeilus AutoReach is one of the more common automated trucks on the road today, I still really enjoy seeing them in action! I hope you all enjoy the video as well!
I'd also like to extend my thanks to this very friendly and professional driver for allowing me to shoot some video of this truck!
Peterbilt 310 - Heil Formula 7000
Here is one of my very favorite automated side loaders that I've filmed to date! Sitting on this 1990 Peterbilt 310 cab and chassis is the rugged Heil Formula 7000 body, featuring my personal favorite generation of the Formula 7000 arm! To top it all off, the arm is outfitted with the wrap-around universal grippers, which are capable of gripping containers as small as 60-gallons and as large as 450-gallons. As if this truck didn't look awesome enough already, the silver paint really seals the deal! Though this truck has seen 26 years of service, she's been well cared for and still runs like a champ! If I recall correctly, this truck still sees action twice per week, every week. Anyways, I could go on talking about this truck forever, but please, treat yourself, and watch this beauty in action! I hope you all enjoy this video!
Also, a giant thank you goes out to everyone at the Granger Public Works Department for their generosity in allowing myself, Alan, Alex, and Mike to come check out their trucks and really going above and beyond for us!
Mack LEU - Labrie Automizer
Here's a slick new Labrie Automizer automated side load body, sitting on a beautiful Mack LEU cab and chassis, owned and operated by Sanitary Disposal of Hermiston, OR! The speed of this truck's arm, combined with the operator's skill made for a very entertaining catch! The truck is seen here handling an in-town residential garbage route. I had a lot of fun watching this truck, and I hope you all enjoy watching it too!
I would like to extend a huge thank you to the driver of this truck, as well as all of the incredibly friendly folks at Sanitary Disposal for making this video possible!
