Including Curotto-Can, Front Load, Roll-Off, Cart Delivery, Stinger, and Boom Truck action!
Every year, for the last weekend of July my hometown hosts three days of Unlimited-Class Hydroplane boat racing on the Columbia River. The event essentially turns the riverfront into a giant non-stop 3-day party, drawing 65,000+ people annually. Naturally, this kind of event generates some serious waste collection needs - a few hundred trash carts, dozens of dumpsters and over 300 portable toilets on the Kennewick side of the river alone! Some of you may remember, about 8 or 9 years ago I filmed a couple of McNeilus M/A's handling part of the massive post-event clean-up operation. This year, I finally had the free time to go back again to check out the clean-up operation, and this time I put 110% effort into showcasing the entire process, not just the carts getting dumped! Without further here's what I captured:
Day 1: A Freightliner Condor with a Wittke Starlight body and a Curotto-Can II empties rows of carts while a Heil Half/Pack Freedom on an Autocar ACX empties clusters of dumpsters. An International 4700 Septic Truck pumps and removes portables toilets from the park, and a Chevrolet Silverado stake-bed pickup takes away empty trash carts!
Day 2: A 1989 WhiteGMC Xpeditor roll-off truck with a 40-yard container removes the rest of the carts from the park. A G&H Manufacturing stinger truck loads dumpsters onto a flatbed, another International 4700 Septic Truck continues to retrieve portable toilets, and a Freightliner FL70 boom truck takes away more empty dumpsters!
A huge thank you goes out to this outstanding, very hard working crew!
