G.I. Industries of Simi Valley has become perhaps the most famous Waste Management division here on YouTube over the years, and it's no wonder! With their fleet of meticulously maintained trucks, awesome chassis/body pairings, and of course the unique green and yellow cab stripes, G.I. Industries trucks are always sure to catch an eye! While in California on January, I decided to dedicate an entire day to filming trucks from the G.I. fleet, including these four Mack LE's with Amrep Octagonal Side Loader bodies, seen here handling residential collection in the city of Thousand Oaks! The lightning fast arm cycles along with the precision operation from these skilled drivers made these trucks and absolute joy to watch! I hope you all have fun watching too!
A huge thank you goes out to these four drivers for allowing me grab some video of their trucks!
Peterbilt 320 - Maxon Legal One Front Loader
Catching a Maxon Legal One front loader in action was top priority for my trip to California back in January, since I've failed to film one during any of my previous trips to SoCal, despite being one of my all-time favorite builds. Fortunately, Lady Luck was on my side this time, and I was able to catch this beauty, a 38-yard Maxon Legal One body on a 1998 Peterbilt 320 cab and chassis, collecting a commercial recycling route in the city of San Marcos! This truck has clearly been well cared for and still knocks back route just as well as it's more modern-day counterparts! In fact, if it wasn't for the fact that Maxon ceased production of it's refuse bodies in 2000, one could easily believe that this truck was half the age that it actually is! Despite some wind and rain, I had a ton of fun watching this truck and I am very glad to finally be able to add one of these beasts to my video library! I hope you all enjoy too!
The biggest of thanks goes out to the incredibly friendly driver for making this video possible!
Volvo WX64 - McNeilus "2nd Gen" AutoReach
Here is without a doubt my favorite side loader that Waste Management is currently running in my neck of the woods! This old girl is a 2002 Volvo Xpeditor WX64 with a "2nd Gen" McNeilus AutoReach automated side load body! This truck originally ran out of the Forest Grove, OR shop before arriving here in Kennewick about 2 years ago. I've made filming this truck a top priority ever since it first showed up, but it was no easy task! This truck has spent the bulk of its time here as a last ditch spare, before finally being assigned permanently to a route earlier this year. Unfortunately, it's assigned route is very spread out rural route, roughly 40 miles outside of town. After several failed attempts to find it out on the country route, I finally caught a break back in May when I spotted it running as a spare on an in-town route! As a result, I am now proud to present you with some footage of this awesome truck! Be sure to turn up the sound on this one, this truck's got a real nice rumble to it!
As always, a giant thank you goes out to the awesome driver for making this video possible!
Lodal EVO MAG-20
In this video, we have a very unique Lodal EVO MAG-20 garbage truck! This unit was originally built as an automated side loader, but later had it's loading arm removed and cart tippers added in it's place, thus converting it into a standard manual side loader. To make room for the automated loading arm in the original build, modifications had to be made to the truck's body which resulted in some lost yardage, made up for with an extra-large tailgate. With all of these modifications and customizations, this one-of-a-kind truck stands out, even among it's already unusual looking Lodal peers.
This truck is seen here handling a residential compost route on a cold and drizzly morning in Portland, OR. I'm sure many of you will recognize the driver as YouTube's very own Georgewuzheer, who has now made several appearances on "the other side of the camera". Of course, the biggest of thanks goes out to him for making this video possible! I hope you all enjoy!
CCC LET - Dempster Route King
Here we have a 1994 Crane Carrier Co. LET cab and chassis paired up with a Dempster Route King rear-load body - a truly iconic combo! This classic machine is seen here handling an annual fall brush collection, where customers can place bulky yard debris out for curbside pick-up. The brush piles are loaded into the truck using a Toro Dingo mini skid steer loader, which is carried on the back of the truck between stops. This is the first time I've ever filmed a brush collection like this, but it was a lot of fun to watch, especially with such a cool classic truck!
As always, a huge thanks goes out to the crew for making this video possible! Some of you make recognize one of the guys as our very own YouTuber, West Coast Refuse Trucks!
