While most of us are used to seeing garbage trucks roaming the streets during the daytime, many big cities start collections during the overnight hours in busy commercial areas to beat the heavy daytime traffic. Seen here is a taste of what these overnight collections are like in Portland, OR. In order of appearance you will see:

Volvo WX64 - McNeilus AutoReach
Here is a classic McNeilus AutoReach automated side loader, sitting proudly atop a Volvo Xpeditor WX64 cab and chassis! Watch here as this old beauty handles a residential compost route on a chilly January morning! This truck has obviously been very well cared for over the years, and still runs very smoothly!

Mack LE - Labrie Expert Helping Hand
Here's a quick video of a slick looking Mack LE cab and chassis, sitting under a Labrie Expert Helping-Hand automated side loader. This beautiful truck has an equally gorgeous rumble to it, especially when the PTO kicks in! Watch here as this beast slams out some residential garbage and a cold and icy winter morning!

Freightliner M2 - Amrep HX-450-ASL
Here we have an unusual pairing: an Amrep HX-450-ASL ("Elliptical") on a natural gas powered Freightliner M2 cab and chassis! As many of you know, I'm not typically the biggest fan of automated side loaders on conventional cabs, but something about this pairing actually looks really nice together! In my opinion, the curves of the cab really compliment the rounded off features of the body very well. Aside from that, this truck operates very nicely! The arm is fast, but smooth, and this truck was able to knock out a considerable amount of route in the short time that I followed. To make this video even more interesting, this truck is seen here handling both the typical US-style trash carts, and well as European-style "wheelie bins" and handles both with ease! Anyways, without further ado, kick back and watch this beauty of a truck knock out some residential garbage route! I hope you all enjoy!

Peterbilt 320 - Heil STARR System
Here are three different Heil STARR System garbage trucks, all on Peterbilt 320 tractors, handling some residential collection. Two of them can be seen here handling single-stream recycling, while the other handles some garbage. The Heil STARR System utilizes a Rapid Rail automated arm mounted to a truck tractor, while the body is a semi-trailer, based after the Rapid Rail body. The Heil STARR System is the only semi-trailer automated side loader on the market, making these trucks very unique! The extra pivot point created by the trailer makes these trucks extremely maneuverable, as is demonstrated several times throughout this video. Watch as it handles cul-de-sacs without ever backing up, and even completes U-Turns on narrow residential streets! The Heil STARR System is a fun truck to watch and I hope you guys all enjoy this footage!
