Peterbilt 320 - Heil STARR System

Here are three different Heil STARR System garbage trucks, all on Peterbilt 320 tractors, handling some residential collection. Two of them can be seen here handling single-stream recycling, while the other handles some garbage. The Heil STARR System utilizes a Rapid Rail automated arm mounted to a truck tractor, while the body is a semi-trailer, based after the Rapid Rail body. The Heil STARR System is the only semi-trailer automated side loader on the market, making these trucks very unique! The extra pivot point created by the trailer makes these trucks extremely maneuverable, as is demonstrated several times throughout this video. Watch as it handles cul-de-sacs without ever backing up, and even completes U-Turns on narrow residential streets! The Heil STARR System is a fun truck to watch and I hope you guys all enjoy this footage!

I would also like to take a moment to extend a huge thank you to the very friendly and professional drivers of these three trucks for allowing me to shoot some video of their trucks!

Peterbilt 320 - Chagnon Sprinter

At first glance, this truck could easily be mistaken for a McNeilus rear loader, but blink quick and look again, and one will quickly recognize this as the Canadian-built Chagnon Sprinter! While these beasts are quite common throughout Canada, it is something of a rare treat to find one down here in the states. This particular unit is paired up with a Peterbilt 320 cab and chassis, a very nice looking combination in my opinion. This beast is seen here handling an early morning downtown commercial route, working quickly to clear the streets and sidewalks before the shops open for the daily hustle and bustle of the big city. I hope you guys all enjoy this footage, after all, it is a rare treat for those of us here in the States!

I would like to extend a big thanks to the driver of this truck for allowing myself and some fellow refuse truck enthusiasts to grab some video of this awesome truck!

Lodal EVO MAG-20 w/ Custom Glass Recycler

As single stream recycling continues to become the method-of-choice for curbside recycling collection across America, glass has quickly stood out as being the peskiest commodity to handle during the sorting process. As it is often broken into fine shards during compaction in a refuse truck, it is often rendered unsortable and useless, and can even contaminate other commodities by the time it reaches a sorting facility. To combat this issue and to get the highest value out of glass, many recycling haulers around the Pacific Northwest choose to segregate glass from the other recyclable commodities. Many of these haulers have creatively customized their trucks to be able to collect co-mingled recyclables as well as glass with the same truck, while keeping the two streams separate. A fine example of one of these unique custom jobs is this Lodal EVO MAG-20 manual side loader, which has been equipped with a custom "recycler box", built by A.A. Welding of Vancouver, WA, to separately contain glass. This "recycler box" features a trough-loading system, reminiscent in design and function to that of the ADR Advance curb-sort recyclers seen throughout the west coast during the 1990's. The glass "recycler box" and trough fit perfectly between the the cab and hopper of the Lodal MAG-20, leaving the rest of the truck unaltered for the easy collection of co-mingled metals, plastics, paper, and cardboard. Aside from the custom addition for glass recycling, the Lodal EVO is in itself a unique truck. Rather than featuring a separate cab, chassis, and body, this entire truck is one fully integrated unit, allowing for a lower loading height, shorter wheelbase, and fewer overall parts.

All-in-all, this is a very unique truck, and it was a lot of fun to be able to watch it in action! I hope you all enjoy it as well!

I would like to take a moment to extend a huge thanks to the crew for allowing me to shoot some video of their truck!

Garbage Trucks: Northeast Washington

Back in September, I took a trip up to visit family in northeast Washington and northern Idaho. While I was up that way, I had some free time to go find some garbage trucks! I ended up not getting enough footage of most of the trucks to do a full-length video of each, however, they few clips I got came together nicely to make this mini-compilation! In this video, you'll see: A Labrie Expert Dual Helping-Hand on an Autocar ACX chassis, an older Wayne Curbtender on a Peterbilt 320 chassis, a Leach 2RIII on an Autocar ACX chassis, two different Labrie Expert Helping-Hand's on Peterbilt 320 chassis, and a newer Wayne Curbtender on a Peterbilt 320 chassis. I hope you guys enjoy the brief footage of each of these trucks! I hope to return to get some full-length video of some of these trucks and more in the near future!

Thanks to each of these friendly and professional workers for allowing me to film their trucks!
